Episode Transcript
[00:00:04] Kelly Walker: Welcome to Hustle and Pro. I'm your host, Kelly Walker. We have an exciting soccer episode today, and welcome back. It's been a few years, right, Jack?
[00:00:15] Speaker A = Jack Walker: Yeah, it's been like, five years, I think.
[00:00:16] Kelly Walker: Okay. Jack Walker, my son is my soccer expert for today, and we've talked about a couple other sports and things on this show, but today I want to hear your soccer expertise. We're doing this from the Dallas Cowboys podcast studio and our visit for sko, just a kick away campaign. So let's jump into some soccer. I want to get your input because I know you know a lot and have a lot to say, so I hope you say it with me and my audience today.
Okay, just to start off with, let's talk about, like, you. Your soccer background.
So I say you're a soccer expert, but what does that mean to you? Like, what's your playing experience?
[00:00:51] Speaker A: So I don't know how young I was. I think I was, like, four. Two. No, three or four. And then. So I was playing like my dad was a coach and,
[00:01:03] Kelly Walker: like, wait, Soccer shots? Yeah, all the way back to soccer shots. Yeah. From what I remember, it goes back
[00:01:10] Speaker A: to soccer shots, which is. Was, like, my dad's friend's company.
[00:01:13] Kelly Walker: Ian Stover.
[00:01:14] Speaker A: Yeah, Ian Stover's company. That was, like, for young kids to just play soccer. And I did that, and it was, like, with a lot of my school friends.
[00:01:22] Kelly Walker: Y' all were three.
[00:01:23] Speaker A: We were three. So I wasn't even in school.
[00:01:25] Kelly Walker: Right. Y' all were barely running around, and y' all were kicking a soccer ball.
[00:01:28] Speaker A: And then.
[00:01:29] Kelly Walker: But wait, back up. You said your dad's friend. You know how dad and Ian know each other?
[00:01:33] Speaker A: They played soccer with each other growing up at Tech. At Tech.
[00:01:36] Kelly Walker: Yeah. So Ian was dad's goalie at Texas Tech on the club team. So, yeah, one day we. We were picking you and Knox up from daycare and realized, wait, we both live here. What are y' all up to? And Ian said, I have my soccer business. So we enrolled you boys in. And, yeah, that was a long time ago. Okay. So then, yeah, you kept playing.
[00:01:56] Speaker A: That turned into steamers. And that was when I started. That was during school. Steamers was like five, like, four or five years long. And it was like a rec team that we played on with all my school friends and, like, a couple kids from different schools. But, like, we were all, like, best friends. But we were good. We were really good.
It's because at the end of it, everyone played club and. And rec. Steamers.
[00:02:17] Speaker A: So we Were like, we didn't. I don't think we ever lost a game on that team.
[00:02:20] Kelly Walker: Y' all were so good and we.
It's kind of the 10 year old time is when people say, all right, maybe we need to move over to club now. Right? Like is that a common jump now?
[00:02:32] Speaker A: There's like 8 year olds playing.
[00:02:34] Kelly Walker: So did you jump over from rec to club a little earlier?
[00:02:38] Speaker A: Uh huh.
[00:02:39] Kelly Walker: There's so many clubs here that will take you younger.
[00:02:41] Speaker A: They just keep getting younger and younger.
[00:02:43] Kelly Walker: Yeah. Okay. Then when you jumped over to club, do you remember all your club?
[00:02:47] Speaker A: I was at FC Dallas for a year with coach Mario.
Different Marios.
[00:02:52] Kelly Walker: Wait, not Tony?
[00:02:53] Speaker A: No, Tony was not my first coach. And then I was there for a year and then I went to Tony's for two years after that.
[00:02:59] Kelly Walker: Tony Graham, Shout Out.He's been on this podcast before
[00:03:01] Speaker A: with Asher and Ethan. No. Was Ethan on my first.
[00:03:06] Kelly Walker: Okay, I don't remember.
[00:03:07] Speaker A: And then I went to Sting. It was Sting at the time. Cuz that's where all my friends played. All my friends played for Sting and I wanted to play with my friends.
[00:03:17] Kelly Walker: Coach Matt Vesey Coach vc. Yeah.
[00:03:20] Speaker A: And then I played for Sting for what, two or three years?
[00:03:22] Kelly Walker: Well, you got interrupted in the middle of Sting with an injury.
[00:03:25] Speaker A: Yeah, I tore my ACL in 2024.
Sure.
[00:03:30] Kelly Walker: Seventh grade.
[00:03:31] Speaker A: Seventh grade. And then I quit. So I quit soccer for a year.
[00:03:35] Kelly Walker: Well, you had to. I had to because I couldn't move club year. Which pushed you into the. You toured on now you had surgery on Valentine's. You tore it the end of January.
[00:03:43] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:03:44] Kelly Walker: So you missed the end of a club year and then that messed up the beginning.
[00:03:47] Speaker A: Yeah. So I just. We just didn't sign because there was no point.
And then.
[00:03:52] Kelly Walker: But when you came back, what's the team you're just finishing off.
[00:03:54] Speaker A: Yeah. So I came back.
So I basically just took a gap year.
[00:03:59] Speaker A: And then.
[00:04:01] Speaker A: And then I came back and I went back to FC Dallas. And that's who I play for right now.
[00:04:05] Kelly Walker: But that's. Right, and it's tryout season to be determined on where you end up with this new age reshuffle.
[00:04:12] Speaker A: Most likely FC Dallas again.
[00:04:13] Kelly Walker: Yeah, we'll see. Could be. Okay. We can't do a soccer podcast without talking about your dad. Right. So obviously I mentioned earlier that he played at Tech with. With Ian and several of his other friends that he still plays with. But like, what's.
What do you. Like how do you Describe your dad's soccer experience.
[00:04:33] Speaker A: He just, he talks about it too much and he thinks he's so good, but.
[00:04:37] Kelly Walker: He is so good. Okay, but, but, but what's his claim to fame?
[00:04:41] Speaker A: That he won state, like, twice.
[00:04:44] Kelly Walker: Yes. So he was. He won state. Well, I don't think they won both times.
[00:04:48] Speaker A: He was, he was captain when they won state.
[00:04:50] Kelly Walker: Captain when they won state. We've all seen the ring, we've all seen the stadium. We've all pulled over on road trips and seen the stadium and heard all the stories.
And when we drive around the metroplex, we get pointed out all the stadiums that dad played, all his, you know, finals and semifinals, and he remembers the score and he remembers who scored them and all the things. Okay, then tell me about soccer for you. As a fan though, like, what teams are you, do you support?
[00:05:18] Speaker A: I like obviously FC Dallas because we have season tickets, so we go to all the games. And then I like Manchester United as my Premier League team.
I really like Manchester United again because my dad likes Manchester United. So I just started watching them when I was young and I still watch them now and I like them.
[00:05:34] Kelly Walker: We do have some Man U merch in the house.
And then country wise, like just usa.
[00:05:41] Speaker A: I don't really like follow any other countries.
[00:05:43] Kelly Walker: You don't follow them. But like you, you like when Argentina wins and when France wins, you're okay with that because you love those players?
[00:05:51] Speaker A: Yeah, sure. Yeah.
[00:05:52] Kelly Walker: You support like player wise. Then who are some of the guys that you think are, I mean, your favorites?
[00:05:59] Speaker A: Obviously Messi. Messi's obviously the goat. But I like.
[00:06:07] Kelly Walker: You like Mbappe?
[00:06:08] Speaker A: I like Mbappe. I mean, I don't really. Not like anybody, but I don't have like favorite players. But I don't.
[00:06:15] Speaker B: Okay, then I hear you talk about when we're buying cleats and stuff, some of those guys like different guys that have different.
I don't know, I can't remember all the names of them.
[00:06:24] Speaker A: Yeah, there's like, like Holland, Lamine Yamal.
[00:06:31] Kelly Walker: He's the young guy that we watch Barcelona. Barcelona guy. So what. Why, what why is he talked about like.
[00:06:38] Speaker A: Because he was 17. No, he was 16 and he won the Euros.
So like he led his team or he didn't lead his team, but he helped. Yeah, he was 16 and he played in the Euro in the 2024 Euros, I think. And he scored. He like played really, really good. And then he like.
Now everyone just loves him now, I guess.
[00:07:00] Kelly Walker: So I remember watching a story about him and like me taking away from it like, okay, he could be kind of that handing the torch from Messi to, like, another 10. That's, like, gonna come up in soccer, build, you know, keep the sport. Is that what you.
[00:07:14] Speaker A: Yeah, he's like. People are saying he's the best player
[00:07:17] Kelly Walker: in soccer, and there you go. Okay, I want to talk about World cup stuff. So do you have, like, a first
[00:07:23] Speaker A: World cup memory at the roller. At the roller skating rink? Yes, in the France Croatia game.
[00:07:32] Kelly Walker: Oh, my gosh. Okay. I didn't know if you remembered that. Dad and I were just talking about the other night. I walk into work yesterday and I look at the TV and I'm like, is this an old World Cup? He was watching the final. France, Argentina. And I said something. We were talking and I said, I remember where we were when we were watching this.
[00:07:50] Speaker A: France, Argentina, or, I don't know, Croatia.
[00:07:52] Kelly Walker: Croatia, maybe. One of our friends must not have been a soccer friend.
[00:07:56] Speaker A: I don't know who it was.
[00:07:57] Kelly Walker: They planned a birthday party at a skating rink during one of these big games.
[00:08:01] Speaker A: Yeah, it was a World cup final, and I was just watching on some little TV in the corner of a roller skating rink. Food court.
[00:08:08] Kelly Walker: Yes. I remember all of this. I can't remember whose birthday party. I want to say it was a Henrich.
Might have been. But that is so funny that you remember that, too. I'm glad you remember that. Okay. But I wanted to. I wasn't sure what you'd say and if you even had, like, a first World cup memory. I mean, you're young, so it's not like you should have a ton of World cup memories, but the year you were born was a World cup year, and it was Spain. They beat Netherlands 10 in extra time.
Back then, there were only 64 matches. Do you know how many there are going to be this coming World cup?
[00:08:40] Speaker A: There's only 64. Last World cup, too.
[00:08:46] Kelly Walker: It just expanded.
[00:08:47] Speaker A: I don't know how many.
[00:08:47] Kelly Walker: There's going to be 104.
[00:08:49] Speaker A: Jeez.
[00:08:49] Kelly Walker: I know. This is why they keep saying it's the biggest. It's the biggest. It actually is the biggest.
[00:08:54] Speaker A: It's the large. Like, the largest scale.
[00:08:55] Kelly Walker: It's the largest tournament.
[00:08:56] Speaker A: That's why it's three countries, right?
[00:08:57] Kelly Walker: It's. Yeah, it's the largest. With the amount of teams from 32 to 48, with the amount of matches and with the scale of, like, geography that it covers with these three countries hosting.
So I thought it was interesting in 2010. Guess who the top scorer was.
You're looking at my notes.
[00:09:15] Speaker A: I couldn't tell you.
[00:09:16] Kelly Walker: Thomas Mueller. Is that how you say it? Is that how you say it?
[00:09:19] Speaker A: The Germany did.
[00:09:20] Kelly Walker: Yes, with five goals. Okay, then the next one was 2014.
[00:09:23] Speaker A: Was that Brazil?
[00:09:24] Kelly Walker: It was in Brazil, but Germany won that one. They beat Argentina 1-0 again in extra time. That's when you know it's like good matchups, right? When it goes extra time.
Golden ball. So best player.
Do you know who that was?
Just take your generic guess. Messi. Yeah, but the. The award for youngest player for that 2014 World cup was Pogba.
[00:09:47] Speaker A: Pogba.
[00:09:48] Kelly Walker: Yeah. And then next one was 2018.
[00:09:51] Speaker A: That's the one. That's the first World Cup I remember.
[00:09:53] Kelly Walker: That's the one. That's the roller skating rink.
[00:09:56] Speaker A: The roller skating rink.
[00:09:57] Kelly Walker: That was France beating Croatia. Do you remember the score or anything?
Four.
It was 14.
They were. They were in Russia. That was Russia.
[00:10:08] Speaker A: Yeah. That was Moscow.
[00:10:09] Kelly Walker: Russia.
Top scorer with six goals, Harry Kane. Yes.
[00:10:14] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:10:15] Kelly Walker: And he's still.
[00:10:17] Speaker A: He's still. He's. He's in his. He's in his prime right now. Like, he's at this. He's at his best. Part of his.
[00:10:22] Kelly Walker: When I looked at that when he
[00:10:23] Speaker A: left Tottenham, that's when he. He's doing so much better at Bayern.
[00:10:26] Kelly Walker: How is he.
How's the top score in 2018? And here we are, and he's still, like, killing it. Because usually, you know, soccer players at that level don't have.
I'd say usually. But then look at, like, Ronaldo and Messi and these guys. Maybe they do. Maybe that's a bad stereotype that I'm throwing out there. Oh, and then best player for that 2018 tournament was Luka Modric.
Does he still play or. He just finished.
[00:10:50] Speaker A: He still plays.
[00:10:52] Speaker A: This will be his last World Cup.
[00:10:53] Kelly Walker: So he's the long, blonde hair one.
[00:10:55] Speaker A: Yeah, he plays for. He plays with Pulisic.
[00:10:58] Kelly Walker: Oh, he does.
[00:11:00] Speaker B: Okay. And then the best young player.
[00:11:06] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Which is crazy, because that's who I remember from that France win was Mbappe. Like, he must have left a big impression on me. Okay, then the Last one was 2022. That was in Qatar.
So.
[00:11:19] Speaker A: Yeah, that. That. I remember that.
[00:11:21] Kelly Walker: You remember.
[00:11:21] Speaker A: You actually remember that one? I remember watching that one. I watched, like, every game.
[00:11:24] Kelly Walker: So you know how that one ends?
[00:11:26] Speaker A: The Mbappe hat trick.
Penalties.
[00:11:29] Kelly Walker: Okay. Yeah. So in penalties. So again, in an Extra time, overtime, and then pins. So Argentina beats France 4, 2, 8 goals like you said. Mbappe. So he scored a hat trick in the final.
[00:11:43] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:11:43] Kelly Walker: Which has only been, I think only done one more time. Which is crazy, right? When you think about it, like even just scoring a goal in the World Cup. A. Yeah. Getting to the final. B, and then scoring and then scoring three. But I think two were pins or something, but which is fine.
[00:11:59] Speaker A: I'm pretty sure one was a pin.
[00:12:00] Kelly Walker: Not trying to take that away from him. But eight goals in the tournament and then best player was Messi.
[00:12:07] Speaker A: Messi.
[00:12:07] Kelly Walker: And then young player. I don't know who this.
[00:12:10] Speaker A: Is it the Argentinian.
Is it Fernandez?
[00:12:14] Kelly Walker: Yeah, Enzo Fernandez?
[00:12:16] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:12:16] Kelly Walker: You know him?
[00:12:16] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:12:17] Kelly Walker: Is he. So that was the best young player four years ago. Is he still.
[00:12:20] Speaker A: Yeah, he'll be there.
[00:12:21] Kelly Walker He's a thing. Where. Who's do you play for?
[00:12:23] Speaker A: I have no clue.
[00:12:24] Kelly Walker: Probably. Is it not Argentina? I didn't know.
[00:12:27] Speaker A: Oh, no, he plays.
[00:12:27] Kelly Walker: Oh, he plays.
[00:12:28] Speaker A: I just document club. I don't know.
[00:12:31] Kelly Walker: No, I don't either.
Okay, so good. I didn't know what. What much you remembered, but.
So three of those in your lifetime have gone into extra time. Extra time and then penalties. So do you like when a game goes into penalties, do you think like.
[00:12:52] Speaker A: Yeah, it's like. I feel like.
Because, like when I'm at FC Dallas and we're at playoff game and I just want to go home then.
[00:12:59] Kelly Walker: No, because like. Okay, but as a fan watching.
[00:13:03] Speaker A: Yeah, it makes it more interesting if I. If I don't care. Like if I'm not a fan of a team in the game. Yeah, sure, right.
[00:13:09] Kelly Walker: But if you're in. If you have a dog in the hunt and you're like, I really want my team to win.
[00:13:15] Speaker A: No, you don't want it to go to.
[00:13:16] Kelly Walker: Right. Part of me thinks if it goes to pins, it's like a toss up. Yeah, it's.
[00:13:20] Speaker A: You don't.
[00:13:20] Kelly Walker: You don't want it to Luck of that goalie's day.
You don't want it to go to pins. You want to win on the field, like in regular time, because anybody can
[00:13:27] Speaker A: be anybody in penalties.
[00:13:29] Kelly Walker: Okay, let's switch over to talk about Team USA for this coming up World Cup. So when we're recording this, I don't know when I'm. I'm gonna get it out the door, but when we're recording this. The USA roster hasn't been announced.
It's coming up in a couple days, so this might come out after that. But regardless, so let's talk about who we think or who we hope is gonna be on there.
Well, go ahead. Throw out any names that you expect
[00:14:01] Speaker A: to see out there or obviously Pulisic, McKinney, Adams.
[00:14:08] Kelly Walker: Do you think Christian Pulisic is the best player in the U.S.
or for the U.S. yeah. Yeah. You do? Yeah, I do too. I mean, we've liked him forever and I think he's like a silent leader type. So I think, I mean, that's obviously a no brainer unless something injury wise changes his tournament, but yeah. Weston, McKinney, Tyler Adams.
So Tim Waya, is it Way? I don't know.
[00:14:35] Speaker A: Yeah,
[00:14:37] Kelly Walker: so I just learned a lot about him watching that.
[00:14:41] Speaker A: The documentary.
[00:14:42] Kelly Walker: Yeah, Us. What's it called?
[00:14:43] Speaker A: I don't know, Return to Glory or something.
[00:14:46] Kelly Walker: No, this one's like All Eyes on usa.
[00:14:49] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, Yeah. I don't know.
[00:14:51] Kelly Walker: Dad's gonna kill me because we just watched it and he was like, what a cool title. And I already forgot it.
But it's that four part, I think, series. But I didn't know his dad was also a national.
[00:15:02] Speaker A: Dad won the Ballon d'.
[00:15:05] Speaker A: His dad won the Ballon Door.
[00:15:06] Kelly Walker: Oh, he did?
[00:15:06] Speaker A: Yeah, in like 1996.
[00:15:08] Kelly Walker: I didn't realize that. Okay. Yeah, see, I didn't know all his like soccer royalty, heritage.
Matt Turner is probably gonna be out there. Chris Richards.
[00:15:18] Speaker A: Turner, right. I don't know. You know, I don't pay attention to
[00:15:22] Kelly Walker: like, I mean, on the things I've heard and read.
[00:15:24] Speaker A: I don't really pay attention to the back,
[00:15:27] Kelly Walker: the back, the half, back half of the field.
Chris Richards, Tim Ream.
[00:15:32] Speaker A: I don't know. He's old.
[00:15:34] Kelly Walker: He's right. Anthony Robinson. Sergino Dest. Yeah, right, Sergino.
And then Tanner Testman's name is in the mix still, which I know, right? I was like, I mean, I love. We love Tanner.
[00:15:46] Speaker A: Yeah.
There's two FC Dallas people playing, but
[00:15:49] Kelly Walker: he's been on this podcast, but I don't know if he'll be in the mix or not. Say that again.
[00:15:52] Speaker A: There's two FC Dallas people playing in the World Cup.
[00:15:54] Kelly Walker: In the World Cup.
[00:15:55] Speaker A: Peter Musa and that Haitian guy.
[00:15:56] Kelly Walker: Yes.
[00:15:57] Speaker A: Who is that? Oh, Deedson.
[00:15:59] Kelly Walker: Deedson. Yes. That Haitian guy is Donald Dietzen. Yes.
And then Burhalter's on this list of maybes. We just saw him play here at Toyota Stadium like a week ago. Malik Tillman, Aronson, Diego Luna. So we also saw him play a couple weeks ago and there's mixed reactions in the crowd, like Eh. I was like, oh, he'll be playing in the World Cup. And people like, yeah. I'm like, oh, I don't know if he will.
Do you. What's your thought on if you will?
[00:16:26] Speaker A: I. I don't know. That's the first time. That's like the third. The second time I've watched him ever.
[00:16:31] Kelly Walker: Well, we saw him in Concacaf at. t, like, a year.
[00:16:33] Speaker A: Yeah. That's the second time I watched.
[00:16:35] Kelly Walker: That's the first time I ever noticed him. I was like, who is that blonde guy out there? He was a good.
[00:16:39] Speaker A: Played in all the friendlies and stuff. And he, like, played a lot and, like, scored.
[00:16:42] Kelly Walker: Yeah. So he might be out there. And then Gio reyna and Balagoon and Pepe is on the maybe list, too.
[00:16:48] Speaker A: I think Balagun will be the starting forward.
[00:16:51] Kelly Walker: You do?
[00:16:51] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:16:52] Kelly Walker: I've heard a lot of, like, on social people saying, who's gonna score their first goal? And a lot of people said. Do you want to answer that? First of all, I don't know. A lot of people say BALIGAN Or Weston McKinney and Pulisic, which, for those of you listening who don't know, Weston McKinney has FC Dallas ties as well. Like, a lot of these guys on this list does. Weston, Chris Richards was through. Yeah. Pepe, Ricardo, Pepper, Tanner Testman. Yeah. A lot of the guys that'll be out on that field for Team USA were. Came through Frisco or FC Dallas guys either in the development stages or in the first team or, like, grew up here playing.
Okay, real quick. I want to talk about positions in soccer because, like, you guys throw all this jargon out a lot, and I. I. When I grew up playing, I was never at a level where I was, like, tactical enough to talk about soccer in number positions. Like, I'm more of, like, I know number positions in baseball because I know how to keep score, and I know. I know the 1, 2, 3, through 9. I know it. But I don't talk soccer like that. But I just kind of want to get, like, your input. You guys do, right? Like, yeah, in the. Like, do y'. All. When you. When your coach or when y' all talk is that part is talking in positions, like, via numbers. It's a part of a conversation.
[00:18:10] Speaker A: It's different for every coach. So, like, in school, we didn't use numbers.
[00:18:16] Speaker A: We just used the name that you're playing that and then. But in club coaches, like, play the seven. No, play, like, the seven. Play the six, play the eight. Play ten.
[00:18:27] Kelly Walker: Like, so your high school soccer coaches are just like, you're a forward, you're a winger, you're a midfielder or something. Okay, so then what do you play?
[00:18:38] Speaker A: Play? Well, I've moved around a lot, so right now I'm playing forward and winger. But I want to play center mid because I'm littler, and I feel like I do better at center mid because I'm not ginormous.
[00:18:55] Kelly Walker: I want to know, how do you keep up with soccer?
Like, how do you consume the sport of soccer?
[00:19:01] Speaker A: I have an app on my phone.
[00:19:03] Kelly Walker: An app on your phone? Can you tell me what the app is called?
[00:19:06] Speaker A: fut. Mob
[00:19:10] Speaker A: Foot Mob, Yeah.
[00:19:11] Kelly Walker: What is that? Never heard of it.
[00:19:13] Speaker A: It, like, gives me updates, and I, like, have, like, pinned teams. Like, whenever games are about to start. It, like, adds to my home screen and it says, game starting, 50 minutes. And then, like, during the game, has the score on my home screen.
[00:19:25] Speaker A: Mm. And it gives me, like, transfer notices and, like, all that stuff. Like, Michael Carrick got named as the.
Like, the.
What's opposite of temporary permanent. Permanent manager for something that.
So I just never know. Like, every time I tell you about something in soccer, I know city from that. You know everything before I know it, I'm like, old school, more traditional way of, like, hearing news come down the pipe. But, you know, you always know. Even if we're in the same house and you're upstairs and I say, oh, this just happened. Or if we're watching and a play just happened, you're like, I know. I saw that goal. I'm like, how do you know?
[00:20:08] Speaker A: Cause, like, when I go upstairs, I'm just. Y' all just. I don't watch the game. I put it on my other screen. Like, I actually. I don't.
I watch. I multitask. I like multitasking. When I watch stuff, it's like, if I don't care that much, I'm not just gonna sit and watch.
[00:20:23] Kelly Walker: But what are you watching it on? Like, you're not sitting in front of a tv.
[00:20:27] Speaker A: My computer. Like, my PC.
[00:20:29] Speaker A: Like, when I'm playing video games and stuff, I just put on my other
[00:20:31] Kelly Walker: monitor, I have a different screen on. On a computer. But it's like, what cha. Like, how do you pull it up on your computer? On a website? Like, streaming on the hd?
[00:20:39] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:20:39] Kelly Walker: Oh, okay. See, I don't know. Yeah, that's just. I can't.
[00:20:42] Speaker A: Like, at school, though. At school, though, we have to like it's hard cause everything's blocked.
[00:20:48] Kelly Walker: You know you're not supposed to be watching soccer at school.
[00:20:52] Speaker A: Like Champions league's always at 2 o' clock on Tuesdays at school. So like it's hard to watch it.
[00:20:58] Kelly Walker: Yeah, you're not supposed to be. So it's not meant to be watched by you at 2 o' clock on a Tuesday.
Just to wrap up any. Like what for World cup this summer. What are you look looking forward to? What teams or players or countries, whatever. For players. Like are you most excited to see what happens out there?
[00:21:16] Speaker A: So like mean you mall's first World cup obviously.
But like with there's. It's like the generations are changing right now because it's all like Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar. It's all there last World cup. But then like Lamina Mall, Elise, all their first World Cup. So it's like, it's like a mixture right now because like all these new guys weren't here last World Cup.
[00:21:36] Speaker B: Right.
[00:21:37] Speaker A: And all these old guys won't be here next World Cup. You know what I mean?
[00:21:40] Kelly Walker: Yeah. The young guys play differently though.
[00:21:42] Speaker A: Yeah. They're like.
I don't know, at least say is like they just play different.
[00:21:50] Kelly Walker: Like how do you think it's because
[00:21:53] Speaker A: it's stuff you've never seen before.
Like.
[00:21:57] Kelly Walker: Like their skills.
[00:21:58] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:21:58] Kelly Walker: They're like flashy the way they.
[00:22:01] Speaker A: Yeah. Like everyone says. Everyone says they don't want to be normal. They want to be like Lamine Yamal.
[00:22:06] Speaker B: Okay.
Okay. Anything else for World cup before we wrap up?
[00:22:10] Speaker A: I think this will be the best USA has done in a World cup, like in my, like in a while.
[00:22:16] Kelly Walker: Yes.
[00:22:16] Speaker A: This is the best team on paper. This is the best USA team like that we've seen.
[00:22:20] Kelly Walker: I agree. I think. I mean we're.
[00:22:23] Speaker A: We have like, we have a couple good players, but then everyone else is just mls.
[00:22:30] Kelly Walker: Yeah.
[00:22:31] Speaker A: I mean like other teams. Everyone else. Everyone on team. Everyone on their team is Europe, top leagues.
[00:22:37] Kelly Walker: Yeah.
Yeah. That's the difference. That's where we're still.
[00:22:40] Speaker A: Spain doesn't have anybody in the mls.
[00:22:42] Kelly Walker: Yeah. Like, well, they don't have to. They're. They're ahead of their decades and decades ahead of. Of our leagues and talent level. But there's also a chance that the. Depending on how USA plays that they end up getting to play here in.
[00:22:55] Speaker A: Yeah. And we go watch Dallas Stadium.
[00:22:56] Kelly Walker: That's one of the tickets we have. So fingers crossed. I think that would be really cool. We've seen Team USA play at that stadium a couple times before, not in a World cup match. So it'd be a whole different vibe. It doesn't really matter to me who plays in those knockout round stages that we get. We'll get to go to. It's going to be great regardless.
[00:23:13] Speaker A: It's just the experience.
[00:23:14] Kelly Walker: Just the experience. And if they made it out of their group and they're in that stage, they're even better. They're good. No, I'm just saying they're good, right?
[00:23:20] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:23:21] Kelly Walker: You don't just accidentally make it out of your World cup group.
[00:23:23] Speaker A: You don't make the World cup if you're not good.
[00:23:24] Kelly Walker: This is true. This is true.
[00:23:27] Speaker A: Italy didn't make the World Cup.
[00:23:29] Kelly Walker: That's crazy, right? Yeah.
[00:23:31] Speaker A: Bosnia beat them. Bosnia and Hergovia.
[00:23:35] Kelly Walker: There's some teams that have never been in the World cup that made it here because of the expanded field. So there's so much that's gonna be really awesome to watch and all the storylines and just the different, different aspects of this one that we've never seen before. It'll be great to watch it unfold. And it's coming soon, so. All right, Jack. Well, happy Summer. Thanks for coming here on your last day of school and talking with us.
Yeah. And chatting soccer with me.
